Personal Pet Peeve
The
biggest pet peeve to pick for myself would be when people don’t pick up after
themselves. This, for me, is a huge problem. Leaving papers and books on table
space for other people to pick up, litters and leaves trash on lunch table, and
for a home example leaving dishes and trash on the counter.
How
does this affect me? Well for starters, I have to do a lot more cleaning in my
own twenty four hours then I should. Picking up things in my house hold and at
school should not be all from my own mess. What is also of result of this pet
peeve is I tend to hoard things. I see trash or things lying on the floor in my
house and don’t have the time or energy to throw it away so I end up putting it
in my pocket or book bag and end up saving things that should have been placed
elsewhere. It also puts me in a very annoyed mood and can ultimately start my
day off on a bad note.
Specific
examples would be when a family member decides to leave supplies they may have
gotten out to make a sandwich or a late night snack and I have to wake up to
things sprawled all over the counter top. Also when little ones decide to
leaves toys on the floor for taller people like me to step on. Another would be
when I walk into a class and someone felt the need to leave their supplies on
my desk space for the next person, which I, to clean up is. Finally, when I see
people leave their trash on the tables for the custodians and lunch workers to
clean up. “Why not just take your trash to the trash can no longer than a foot
away from where we are sitting?” I asked a friend one day. He replied, “That’s
not my career choice.” In my opinion it
is not there job to pick up one’s own trash, like myself.
People
find themselves acting in a way of laziness when they do not have an interest
in the subject or cannot seem to find a purpose for doing a certain things.
Some say it’s from our desire to rest while others say it’s our lack of work
ethic or motivation. Others say that when we label someone as being lazy we
dismiss them instead of understanding them. Though I know for a fact that
people I am with in my own classes, lunch, and household do not suffer from a
mental illness like depression or anxiety disorders that impair them their
ability to work and be active, it’s a choice.
I
believe this pet peeve of mine can be solved by many procedures. One would be,
as hard as it would be for me, to let it sit there for that person to see what
they need to do. Another would be to leave them a note. I could learn to be
assertive and leave a sticky note politely telling this certain person if they
leave their own belongings in my area I will be throwing them away. Overall,
just bring it to the person’s attention. Let them know what they need to do to
cure there illness of just being lazy.
