Grades are a Pest

A pet peeve is something that someone or something does that annoys you. My pet peeve happens to be when I study a lot for a test and someone who didn’t study gets a better grade than me. It just doesn’t make since that someone that doesn’t study somehow can get a better grade than me by doing absolutely nothing.
There are many problems when it comes to this annoyance. The first is that people that don’t study should not be getting better grades than those who do. When this happens it causes people to think “What’s the point in studying if I could get around the same grade by not studying,” which can cause some people to stop studying and get bad grades.  The other problem with this annoyance is that it can happen a lot. This can also cause some people to think it is just better not to study for a test. The last problem is that is too much of an annoyance to some people. If it is too much of annoyance to someone to it would make them, yet again, not want to study ever.
This pet peeve affects me personally by being annoying and creating discouragement. For others it may cause self-esteem issues. First, it is because you don’t know why you could be doing worse than others that don’t study. It’s also because I don’t know if is because I am not studying right or don’t understand the lesson and studying the materials incorrectly. The pet peeve can also create discouragement by that the test must have been easy for somebody that didn’t study and you studied but did badly on the test, which may make some people think you are not smart.  To some people this pet peeve can cause self-esteem issues. It may cause self-esteem issues by making somebody think they are not smart enough to be in a certain class. That is how this pet peeve can affect me and others.
There are only a couple of situations that this pet peeve has happened to me. One of these pet peeve incidents happened when I studied for a math test for an hour and a half and then the next day at school I took the test and got a B and my friend that didn’t study got an A. The other incident was when I studied for a geography test for an hour and took the test the next day and thought I was doing well but ended up getting a C and my friend who didn’t study somehow got an A.
Now to the part where this pet peeve started, this probably has been a pet peeve since tests and quizzes were a thing. It didn’t become a pet peeve to me until late 8th grade year. The disappointment about this pet peeve is that it will be around until test, quizzes and, grades stop being a thing. Since it will always be around what are some ways that others and myself cope with the pet peeve. First, I could try to not let it annoy me as much as it could and try to not let it be as much of a problem it could be. Also, I shouldn’t let grades be everything because there are a lot of things that are more important than grades. Lastly, I could try different ways to study so I could do better with test and quizzes.
