                                                                        Beach Trip
About three years ago for spring break my family went to Florida.  This trip was a big deal for me because it was the first year my parents let me take a friend to the beach.  I took my best friend Joseph and before we even left we knew we were in store for a good time.  This memory is embedded in my mind because it was such a great time, one I’ll never forget.  The vacation was definitely one of the best weeks of my life.
The trip down was exciting to say the least, twelve hours of non-stop chit chat, jokes, and lots of laughs.  We started our journey to Florida at the crack of dawn and didn’t arrive till nearly three in the morning.  At the beginning of the voyage everyone was exhausted and slept for the first two hours, after all we did start our trip just before six in the morning.  The next ten hours certainly weren’t short of excitement, with a familiar game to every young child “punch buggy”.  A few hours flew by and we soon stopped for lunch, barely able to get out of the car as my arms and legs were tattooed in bruises and welts from our previous game of punch buggy, I soon forgot of the pain as I dug in to a delicious meal at FATZ.  Unfortunately, our pit stop soon came to an end after about an hour and we were back on the road.
As we neared the halfway point of our journey to Florida everybody in the car began to grumble.  “Hey dad can we take a quick break were all kind tired of driving.  Sure he said at the next exit we’ll find a place to stop.”  The whole car applauded this executive decision. We pulled into a rest stop as we drove in we heard a bizarre rattling and when we stopped we realized we had a flat tire. As we waited for Triple A to arrive Joseph and I grabbed the football from the trunk and went on a walk, we had explored the whole rest stop, and were still waiting for Triple A to show up.  After what seemed like hours later they had finally arrived.  Shortly after we were on the road again, the next few hours went with little excitement until my dad said “who wants to make a quick stop for dinner.” The rest of the car and I all agreed and started making suggestions.
Twenty minutes quickly passed and we stopped at a small steak house in Georgia.  After a wonderful meal everyone started to settle down and sleep, after all it was nearly midnight.  Ensuing three long hours of sleep my dad woke the whole car up to a beautiful house along the ocean.  Everyone spilled out of the car to see the house we’d be staying at; we were all impressed to say the least.  Nobody imagined the house would have been that big, but there certainly weren’t any complainers.  We opened the door only to find the house was nicer on the inside than the outside, we all crammed through the doors to see who could pick the best room.
After everyone claimed their room we all immediately jumped in bed and passed out.  Late the next morning we woke up and all went to breakfast at a local pancake house, which we had gone to for several years.  We all got five chocolate chip pancakes, the service was a little slow so we ended up waiting about an hour for our food, but as soon as it arrived everyone had dug into their delicious meal.  What seemed like seconds later everyone had finished their meal leaving nothing but the plate; we paid and headed to the grocery store.
As we arrived at the grocery store everyone stepped out of the car to help pick out the groceries for the week.  We got our groceries and stared in awe as each item was scanned and put into the cart.  My dad paid and we left and headed back to the house.  The sun was out and we knew we were in store for a beautiful day, packed with adventures like surfing, boogie boarding, building sand castles and walking the beach.  After several hours on the beach we emerged into the house looking like lobster.  The next nine days at the beach were almost as exciting as the first.
As this unforgettable trip came to an end the smiles began to fade.  We ventured back to Roanoke with memories that would never be forgotten.  Everyone was sad on the car ride home realizing it’d be another year till we went back.  My smile remained unchanged after all I did just take the best trip of my life.  On the trip home all I could think about is how great next year will be.  This trip was really important to me because it was the first time I had ever gotten to take a friend to the beach, it was also my first trip to Florida.  I still remember this week because it was with my best friend, and we had so many good times at the beach
